The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are two joints that connect your jawbone to your skull. The TMJs and attached muscles move your jaw up and down and from side to side, allowing you to open your mouth, talk, and chew comfortably. Problems with the TMJs, jaw, and surrounding muscles are known collectively as temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). At Times dental we offer TMJ treatment with custom-fitted bodyguards, TMJ splints including the NTI splint.
